How to Write an Outstanding 8 Paragraph Essay in No Time

A standard eight paragraph essay is one which includes an introductory paragraph as well as a concluding paragraph and an additional six paragraphs of supporting evidence within the body of the text. If you are writing a descriptive essay you can dedicate each of the six paragraphs in the body of your text to a particular description or characteristic. If you are writing an argumentative essay you can dedicate each of the six to a particular argument or piece of evidence.

Writing essays is not easy for a lot of students and if you believe that you cannot write a good essay you will find it very difficult to motivate yourself to sit down and write. That is why you should review these basic rules so that the process of writing your next essay is easy.

Tip 1:

Analyze your title. Before you start writing your next essay you want to make sure that you have thoroughly understood your essay prompt and the title. Pay particular attention to the guidelines you are given and look for any hint of the direction your paper needs to take or what narration you need to use. Some of the words for which you should look include “analyze” and “discuss” or even “compare”.

Tip 2:

Create a writing schedule. In most cases eighty percent of the time you will spend on an essay is in preparation while the remaining twenty percent is what you spend actually writing. Try and create a writing schedule for the duration of your project so that you can get a little bit done each day. This will help keep you on task for turning your paper in on time and will help you to avoid the night-before-panic.

Tip 3:

Start your research. Remember that you need to gather all related information before you start writing. Start asking yourself questions about your topic and your title and see if you can answer all of the questions. If you cannot--or you need to fill in some missing information in the history or background--use these questions to guide your research. Look for the answers in peer reviewed journals or books. Write down key information while you are taking notes and be cautious when using internet sources. You have to evaluate the reputation of the source before you use it in your essay.
