WOLFF cranes deployed at London Television Centre site
WOLFFKRAN has deployed five tower cranes for Phase 2 of the Television Centre redevelopment in White City, London, supporting construction of residential buildings under challenging urban conditions. The project, led by developer Mitsui Fudosan UK and contractor Multiplex, includes a 23-storey tower and a nine-storey residential block.
Four WOLFF 355 B cranes were installed between July and August 2025, with one unit initially erected to a freestanding height of 77.2 m and later extended to 95.2 m for slipforming the concrete core. A WOLFF 630 B crane was subsequently installed atop the structure to continue tower construction.
The site鈥檚 proximity to the London Underground imposed strict safety and logistics constraints, requiring cranes to operate at only 75 per cent of their lifting capacity and necessitating stronger foundations. Placement was restricted to the rear of the site to comply with oversailing regulations, while steep jib configurations and reduced swing radii ensured safe operations without encroaching on railway tracks.
Assembly and dismantling activities were carefully planned, with some cranes dismantling others and a 650-ton mobile crane scheduled for final disassembly. Work schedules were adjusted to meet noise and environmental restrictions in the surrounding residential area.
WOLFFKRAN highlighted its experience in inner-city and rail-adjacent projects as key to executing the deployment within tight timelines and complex regulatory conditions.
